Tool Reference

Last updated: November 6, 2026

This reference lists every tool the Lextree connector gives an AI assistant, grouped by topic, with what each one does and the key scope it needs. It is for admins choosing which key to create and for anyone who wants to know what their assistant can do. The key’s scope sets the limit: a read-only key can read, a write key can also change records, and the Configuration checkbox adds access to your setup. To connect an assistant, follow Set Up Claude Desktop; to choose the scopes when you create a key, see API Access.

What a key allows

TagWhat it allowsTools
Any keyReads records, the files, events, workflows and timeline entries attached to them, saved reports and charts, and the text inside files. A read-only key can never change anything.41 tools
WriteAlso creates, updates, trashes and restores records, calendar events, manual timeline entries, attachments, reports and ownership charts, and regenerates charts. Launches workflows from templates an admin has opened to integrations.37 tools
PurgeAlso permanently deletes items that are already in the trash. Nothing deleted this way can be restored.6 tools
ConfigurationA separate checkbox on the key, independent of the three scopes. It lets the assistant read how the subscription is set up and, together with a write scope, change it. Configuration deletes are final.38 tools

Tools at a glance

Each row is a kind of item. Each column is something a tool does with it. A number shows how many tools do that. Your key’s scope decides which of them the assistant can use.

How the assistant uses these tools

The assistant starts by finding out what your subscription holds. It checks which subscription the key belongs to, which modules are enabled and which record types the key can reach. Nothing is fixed in advance, so a record type or custom field your admin adds shows up without any change to the connection.

It then reads only what it needs. To answer a question it looks at a record type’s fields, filters the records, and opens the ones that match. When it doesn’t know where to look, it searches by meaning instead.

Writes mirror reads. The assistant learns which fields of a record type can be written and which are required, then sends the change in the same shape a read returns. A rejected change comes back with the name of the field at fault, so the assistant can correct it.

Retrying a write never creates a duplicate. If a call is repeated after a failure, the change is applied once.

Reports and charts are saved objects. The assistant can create one, run or render it, and read the result back. A chart must be regenerated before it has a picture.

Configuration is separate. The assistant can read or change how your subscription is set up only when the key has the Configuration checkbox, and every configuration tool is refused without it.

Usage limits are shared. All the keys on a subscription draw on one budget, and the assistant can check how much room is left before it starts a large job.

Tools by topic

Any key Write Purge Configuration Destructive is flagged so clients ask first; marks a required parameter.

Account and reference

Account and modules 2 tools

Confirm which subscription the key belongs to and which modules are on.

  • Get usage

    get_usage

Shows which subscription the key belongs to, what the key may do, today’s usage, and how much of the shared budget is available right now. Limits are shared by all the subscription’s keys.

    Any key No parameters
  • List modules

    list_modules

Lists every module and whether it is enabled. A disabled module’s record types and tools are unavailable. Modules are turned on in the app’s settings, not through the assistant.

    Any key No parameters

Countries and legal forms 3 tools

Look up the codes that country and legal form fields accept.

  • List countries

    list_countries

Lists the countries that country fields accept, with their ISO codes and names.

Records and what attaches to them

Records 10 tools

Read and change the records in each module, such as legal entities, contracts and boards.

  • List record types

    list_record_types

Lists the record types the key can read, covering enabled modules plus always-on reference types. Each comes with a link pattern for opening a record in the app. This is where the assistant starts.

About this reference

  • The tool list matches what the Lextree connector offered on the date shown. The connector can change when Lextree is updated, so this page may lag behind it.
  • The summaries are written for this page. Your assistant reads its own, more technical, description of each tool.
  • The topic grouping and the topic introductions are written for this page. The connector doesn’t group tools.
  • A tool’s key requirement is the scope chosen when the key is created. A key without it is refused with an insufficient-scope error. Configuration is a separate checkbox on the key.
