Every record in Lextree has a detail page where you can review its information and work with related records, events, files, and tasks. The contents vary, but the structure stays consistent across modules. Once you know your way around one detail page, you can use the same approach throughout Lextree.

Opening a detail page

Open a module from the left navigation, find the record in its list, and click the row to open its detail page. The modules available to you depend on how your organization has configured Lextree. For help finding a record by sorting or filtering a list, see Working with grids.

Using the header

The header identifies the record you are viewing and keeps its main actions available:

  • Favorite: Click the star to add the record to the Favorites panel on your Dashboard. Click it again to remove the record from your favorites.
  • Edit: Change the record’s details if you have edit permission for that record.
  • Delete: Delete the record if you have delete permission for that record.

Your permissions determine which editing and deletion actions are available.

Reading the record’s information

The top information block contains the record’s system data. This may be as simple as a name, or it may include other information, such as linked records or a status. The fields in this block depend on the type of record you are viewing.

Below that, the details area groups information into sections. Your organization can customize these sections and their field labels, so your page may look different from another organization’s page or a tutorial example. The amount of information shown depends on your configuration and the data entered for the record.

Below the details area, expandable panels group related records. The panels available depend on the module and the record you are viewing.

Click a panel’s heading to expand it and see its records. Click the heading again to close it. Within an expanded panel, you can:

  • Sort and filter the grid to find the records you need.
  • Scroll horizontally to see additional columns.
  • Double-click a row to open that related record’s detail page.
  • Select New, where available, to add a related record.

These panels use the same grid controls found elsewhere in Lextree. See Working with grids for more about sorting and filtering.

Using the right panel

The panel on the right brings together Calendar, Attachments, and Workflows. Nearly every record in Lextree can have events, files, and tasks associated with it. Click a section to expand it.

Calendar

Use the calendar to review events associated with the record. Switch between month view and list view to see the schedule in the format you prefer. Select an event to view its details, then click X to return.

To add an event, select New. You can start with a blank event or choose an existing template, depending on your organization’s configuration.

Attachments

Attachments hold files associated with the record. Select an existing attachment to access and download its files.

To add an attachment:

  1. Open Attachments and choose the option to add a new attachment.
  2. Enter a name and description.
  3. Select the plus (+) button to browse for files on your computer, or drag and drop files onto the upload panel.
  4. Save the attachment to associate it with the record.

You can include more than one file in an attachment.

Workflows

Workflows are tasks or groups of tasks that help you get work done on your own or with colleagues.

To start a workflow for the record, expand Workflows and select New. Choose an available template or start with a blank workflow.
