These are the terms you’ll meet in Lextree and in this help, in alphabetical order. Each one links to the page that explains it in full.
Access groups. Named sets of people, such as a region or a division, that admins use to share records with some people and not others. Someone limited to selected groups sees only what is shared with their groups. Available on Enterprise plans. See Groups.

AI assistant connection. A link between an assistant such as Claude and your Lextree data, made with an API key through MCP (the Model Context Protocol). See Connecting an AI assistant.
All-access users. People whose record access is set to All records, so they see every record in the modules they can open. See Records.
API key. The credential an integration or assistant uses to reach your data. An admin creates it with a fixed scope. See Getting and using a key.
Attachment. A named group of files, one or several, stored on a record or a workflow. See Attachments.
Audience. The setting for who can see a top-level record. You choose All users, Only all-access users, or Limited to selected groups. See Records.
Audit history. The record of data changes, access changes, and sign-ins, kept in the logs under Admin → Logs. Available on Enterprise plans. See Logs.
Automatic action. A template trigger that creates its event or launches its workflow without asking anyone, rather than suggesting it. See Automatic actions.
Calendar. Your events laid out by date, for one record or for everything you can access. See Calendar.
Chart designer. The editor where you change how an ownership chart looks and is laid out. See Entity Ownership Chart Designer.
Checklist. The items a workflow’s participants tick off. See Working through the checklist.

Event. A calendar entry on a record, such as a deadline, a meeting, or a renewal date. In the help, “event” always means a calendar event. See Events.

Favorites. Your own shortlist of starred records, shown on your Dashboard. See Favorites for quick access.
Guest. A view-only membership for outside collaborators. A guest takes no part in workflows and doesn’t use a seat. See Roles.
List page. The table for one record type, listing every record of that type you can see. You sort, filter, export, and create from it. See Grids.
Module. One area of your compliance data, such as Contracts, Insurance, or Legal Entities. Admins grant access module by module. See Modules.
Organization. A company, agency, firm, trust, or other party that isn’t a person, kept in the shared directory under Records. See Records.
Outcome. The result of finishing a workflow. It can be nothing beyond the completed checklist, a new record, or edits to a record that already exists. Available on Business and Enterprise plans. See The outcome card.
Ownership chart. A drawing of who owns what: organizations and people, with the ownership stakes that connect them, built from your ownership records. See Entity Ownership Charts.
Participant. A person who is part of a workflow. Participants are the only people who can tick off its items, change its status, or comment on it. Available on Business and Enterprise plans. See Participants and requests.
Person. An individual kept in the shared directory under Records. See Records.
Plan. What your subscription includes: Pro, Business, or Enterprise. See Plans and features.
Record. One item you keep track of, such as a contract, a license, or a board meeting. See Working with records.
Record page. The page for one record. It shows the built-in fields, the record’s own fields and related records, and panels for Calendar, Attachments, Workflows, and the timeline. See Working with records.
Related records. Records linked to a record and listed on its page; a board’s meetings are an example. See Working with records.
Reminder. A notification sent a set time before an event. See Reminders.
Report. A saved question about your data that you can run again whenever you like, with columns drawn from related records. Available on Business and Enterprise plans. See Reports.
Reporter. The role that lets a person build reports and run them over the entire subscription’s data. An admin grants it person by person. Available on Business and Enterprise plans. See Roles.
Seat. What your subscription is billed by. Each active member who is an admin or has access to a module takes one, and so does each pending invitation for such a person. Guests don’t. See Inviting someone.
Status. Where a record stands, worked out from its timeline rather than set by hand. See Status and its absence.
Subscription. Your organization’s workspace in Lextree, together with its plan, seats, members, and data. See Subscription & Billing.
Suggestion. An event or workflow that Lextree proposes because a record meets a template’s trigger. Accepting it is up to you. See Automations.
Timeline. A record’s dated history of what happened to it, such as filed, renewed, or expired. Its status comes from the timeline. See Timeline.
Timeline entry. One dated item on a timeline. See Timeline.
Top-level record. The record that sharing is set on. In most modules that is the organization, while contracts, properties, matters, and policies are top-level records in their own right. Records attached to it follow its sharing. See Records.
Trash. Where deleted records and attachments wait until they are restored or permanently deleted. See Trash.
Trial. The free first period of a new subscription, before anyone buys. See Starting a trial.
Viewer. The module role for reading only: a Viewer can open the module and see the records their access allows, but can’t change anything. See Roles.
Workflow. A checklist run on a record and carried out by its participants. Some workflows end by creating or updating a record. Available on Business and Enterprise plans. See Workflows.
Workflow template. A reusable workflow that an admin defines: its checklist, participants, attachments, outcome, and who can launch it. Available on Business and Enterprise plans. See Workflow templates.
If a module, record, or button isn’t where you expect it, see Why can’t I see something?.
