Taxes module guide
Last updated: September 5, 2026
The Taxes module tracks tax return filings, their deadlines, and tax-authority examinations for your organizations. It tracks the filing obligations and status — not tax preparation or calculation. A tax provision is typically evidenced by the organization’s financial statements for the same period.
The Tax Obligations list
Open Taxes from the left navigation to see your tax obligations — the standing duty to file a given tax in a given jurisdiction, with its tax type, jurisdiction, and tax authority. Open an obligation to see the returns filed under it. Filter with the row beneath the headers, and select rows to Export.
What the module tracks
- Tax Obligations — the anchor record for a given tax in a given jurisdiction: what’s owed, how often, and who prepares it.
- Tax Returns — filing records recorded under a Tax Obligation, with type, key dates, and status (jurisdiction comes from the parent obligation), including extensions that move the due date.
- Tax Audits — IRS, state, and local examinations, with individual findings recorded against each audit.
- Tax Exemption Certificates (toggleable) — exemption certificates your organization provides to vendors.
