Trust Governance

Last updated: July 25, 2026

The Trust Governance module governs and administers your trust entities. It tracks who serves as trustee or protector, who the beneficiaries are, and how the trust has been amended over time. The module applies to legal entities whose type is Trust, extending each entity with trust-specific governance.

What Trust Governance tracks

Open Trust Governance from the left navigation. The module covers:

  • Trusts — trust-specific metadata extending the legal entity (trust type, trust date, grantor).
  • Trustees — current and former trustees, with their powers and succession order, each with appointment terms.
  • Trust Protectors — individuals with oversight powers over the trust, each with appointment terms.
  • Trust Beneficiaries — beneficiaries and their interests in the trust.
  • Trust Amendments — modifications, restatements, and decanting records.

Adding a record

Creating or editing records requires Editor access to the Trust Governance module.

Open the record type, click New, complete the form, and Save. Open a trust to manage its trustees, protectors, beneficiaries, and amendments, and to attach the governing documents.

Who can access trust governance

  • Viewing requires access to the Trust Governance module.
  • Creating or editing requires Editor access.

On Enterprise plans, organizational unit (OU) scoping limits records to entities within your assigned OUs.
